Defining JDM Cars
JDM stands for “Japanese domestic market”. In simple terms, a JDM car is:
- A vehicle originally sold and used exclusively in Japan.
- Produced by a Japanese automaker to comply with Japanese vehicle regulations and meet local demand.
- Built to Japanese consumer tastes — often smaller, lighter, more minimalist interiors.
- Right-hand drive since Japan drives on the left.
So JDM cars differ from models aimed at America and Europe. They represent unique Japanese home market variants.
